Instructions
Step 1: Download and Activate
1. Click the download link in your welcome email.
2. Open the app, enter the email address linked to your policy, and create a secure password.
3. Enter your mobile number and the unique activation code provided by email.
Step 2: Enable Permissions
For accurate tracking, allow the app to access:
- Location Services – records trip details.
- Bluetooth – connects your phone to the device.
- Motion & Fitness / Activity Recognition – detects when your car is moving.
Step 3: Connect the Device
Pair your phone with kinetiQ.Drive
1. Pull out the battery strip from the device.
2. If the device has gone to sleep, shake it gently to wake it.
3. In the app, select the device when it appears.
4. Once connected, your dashboard will start recording journeys.
Step 4: Install in Your Car
Secure the device to your windscreen
1. Clean a clear space inside the windscreen, near the top.
2. Peel off the sticky backing from the flat side of the device.
3. Stick the device firmly to the windscreen, making sure:
- It doesn’t obstruct your view.
- There’s space to twist and remove it if needed.
Step 5: Start Driving
Track journeys and unlock fairer premiums
- Trips will now record automatically.
- Check your dashboard for driving scores and journey feedback.
- Safer driving = fairer premiums at renewal.

What is CoverMy Drive?
CoverMy Drive is an app-based telematics product, powered by the kinetiQ.Drive app, that rewards customers with discounted rates for safe and responsible driving.
Where in my vehicle can I put the wedge?
We recommend the Windscreen or Dashboard, as this is where the wedge is least likely to be knocked/damaged. Do not place the wedge in a closed section of the vehicle (e.g. glovebox) as this may cause connectivity issues.
Why are my trips not showing when I finish a drive?
Trips can take a while to upload to the kinetiQ.Drive app. Please allow up to 2 days to see if the trips upload before referring to the kinetiQ.Drive team, who can investigate this further.
I keep getting emails to change my settings, but my trips are recording fine, why is this happening?
If certain settings are disabled, the system will automatically send reminders prompting you to reactivate them. The most common issue is with Push Notifications being turned off. While the app may still record some trips without this setting enabled, it’s an essential permission; it helps maintain accurate heartbeat data and ensures the app functions correctly.
Will it count as phone distraction if my passenger is using my phone?
Yes, it will, as there is no way of differentiating between the user of the phone during a trip.
What happens if my kinetiQ.Drive app has shown me speeding, but the speed limit of the road in real life does not match the app?
If you believe a trip has been recorded incorrectly, the kinetiQ.Drive team can review it for you. If you provide sufficient evidence, they can make sure the trip doesn’t negatively affect your driving score.
Why do I need to keep location turned on when I’m not driving, am I being tracked outside of my vehicle?
The kinetiQ.Drive app needs to know when a trip is being recorded, which it does by communicating (“pinging”) with the Bluetooth wedge. If the wedge is out of range, trip data won’t be stored. Similarly, if location permissions are disabled, the app cannot determine the wedge’s location and won’t know if the vehicle is in use. For this reason, location permissions must be enabled at all times.
